Mario Brunello will give a Cello Masterclass from 23 to 29 September 2024 in San Ginesio, in the Marche region, Italy.

Società Amici della Musica “Guido Michelli” (Ancona) offers an extraordinary week of Masterclasses with Mario Brunello, developed to create a new training experience.
Music comprehension, knowledge and study will be linked to other activities that will involve the cultural specifics of the area in the municipality of San Ginesio, in the provinces of Macerata and Fermo, in the Marche region.
Lessons will be based on three main ideas: Method to study, Form for interpretation and Nature to find inspiration

MARIO BRUNELLO MASTERCLASS – TWO MASTERCLASSES

Two types of Masterclasses will be offered:

A SPECIALIZED MASTERCLASS : 3 cellists (or at the discretion of M. Brunello) will be selected and each one of them will have 3 one hour and a half lessons. A piano accompanist will be available.
Total fee, board and accommodation included (7 nights, double room): 550.00 €.
Single room supplement: 70 € (to be specified during application).

The GENERAL MASTERCLASS “9-99” for all levels. Young and adult musicians, students, professionals and amateurs of all ages (from 9-99!)
A maximum of 10 participants, two short lessons.
Total fee, board and accommodation included (7 nights, double room) + Mario Brunello’s book “24 study days for cello”: 400.00 .
Single room supplement: 70 (to be specified during application).

Chamber Music Ensemble: Chamber Music Ensemble lessons and method study Mario Brunello’s book “24 Days for Cello”, for all “9-99” Masterclass participants (voluntarily) will be held by the cellist Sanne de Graaf, assistant and musical coordinator. The course is free of charge.

The “9-99” Masterclass and Chamber Music Ensemble lessons will be based on Mario Brunello’s book “24 Days for Cello,” but it is helpful for all participants to have it. For those who do not have it yet, it will be on sale on site at a cost of 30.00 €

Auditors: It is possible to participate as an auditor in the Masterclasses.
The number of auditors allowed will depend on the number of participants.
The cost is 30 € per day (+ an extra 20 € for the day of the mountain hike)
The auditors may take part in the Chamber Music Lessons.
Cost of the entire week including Chamber Music Lessons is 220 €.
The costs of accommodation (with the possibility of enjoying meals at agreed prices) will be borne by the auditors.

Thursday 26 September: Workshop regarding Nature: guided walking tour in the Sibillini Mountains
Friday 27 September: Specialized Masterclass lessons
Saturday 28 September: General Masterclass “9-99” lessons
Sunday 29 September: Departure 

CONCERTS 

Thursday 26 September: MARIO BRUNELLO
Thursday 26 September: Small concert in the mountains
Friday 27 September: Chamber music concert by participants of “9-99”
Saturday 28 September: concert by cellist of the Specialized Masterclass

One of the students of the high specialization course, chosen by M° Brunello, will be given the opportunity to play a concert in the summer season of the Amici della Musica, in Ancona, in 2025.

All attendees will participate in all activities throughout the entire project.

Lessons for foreign participants will be in English.
All other activities will be in Italian.

Lessons will be held in Auditorium Sant’Agostino. 

MARIO BRUNELLO MASTERCLASSGENERAL INFORMATION  

San Ginesio is situated in Monti Sibillini National Park, 700 metres above sea level, in front of the majestic mountain chain, in a very strategic area rich of cultural and natural tourism activities that was severely struck by the earthquake of 2016. San Ginesio has received the Orange Flag as one of The most beautiful villages of Italy, and in 2021 it received the award of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) of Best Tourism Village unique awarded in Italy.

Participants that will reach San Ginesio by car will use their own vehicles to take the trips during the week.
The most important requirement is an extra-musical interest for a 360° training experience.

San Ginesio can be reached:
By train/bus
The nearest railway station is Tolentino. From there take the bus to San Ginesio (Porta Picena stop). You can consult the bus timetable on the Autolineesasp website (+39 0733.663137) or by consulting the timetable table directly.
By plane/ship
The nearest airport is Ancona/Falconara, about 90 km from the village (Airport website), while the nearest port is Ancona, about 80 km from the village (Ancona port website).
By your own means
From the A14 motorway, whether coming from the north or south, take the Civitanova Marche exit and follow the SS77 to the Macerata Ovest – Sforzacosta exit. From there follow the SP78 to Passo San Ginesio.

Where to park
It is possible to park in the free car park indicated by the marker P on the map, or in the adjacent Area di sosta per camper di eccellenza.
