GENERAL LINES

Società Amici della Musica “Guido Michelli” di Ancona organizes an extraordinary training event with Mario Brunello that has been created to give life to a new training experience. Music comprehension, knowledge and study will be linked to other activities that will involve the cultural peculiarities of the territory in the Municipality of San Ginesio and its surroundings, in the provinces of Macerata and Fermo in the Marche Region.

Lessons will deal with three main ideas: Method to study, Form to give an interpretation and Nature to ﬁnd inspiration.

This edition features two significant changes: the duration of the Masterclass, that will last one day more, and the presence of a musical assistant that will coordinate the moments of music d’ensemble, and will tutor those, among the General Masterclass participants, interested in deepen-ing some particular aspects of the study of the instrument, following M° Brunello’s book “24 days of study”.

MARIO BRUNELLO MASTERCLASS 2022
TWO MASTERCLASSES

Two types of Masterclass will be offered:

SPECIALIZED MASTERCLASS
(with max. 3 participants or at the discretion of M. Brunello). Three cellists will be selected and each one of them will have three 90-minute lessons. A piano accompanist will be available.
Total fee, board and accommodation in a double room included (12-19 September, 7 nights + Mario Brunello’s book “24 study days for cello”) 400.00 €.
Single room supplement: 70 € (to be specified during application).

GENERAL MASTERCLASS
for all levels. Young and adult musicians, students, professionals and amateurs, from 9-year old onwards (at this moment max. 10 participants, two lessons).
Total fee, board and accommodation in a double room included (12-19 September, 7 nights + Mario Brunello’s book “24 study days for cello”) 280.00 €.
Single room supplement: 70 € (to be specified during application).

It is possible to participate as an auditor to the classes. The number of auditors allowed is to be defined depending on the number of participants and of the pandemic situation.
The cost is of 30 € per day, except for the day of the mountain hike which costs 50 €.

The music d’ensemble lessons and the tutoring following Mario Brunello’s book “24 days of study” dedicated to the general Masterclass participants, will be held by the cellist Sanne de Graaf, assistant and musical coordinator, the 14-15-16-17 September.
Participation is voluntary and free of charge.

CONCERTS
TUESDAY 13 SEPTEMBER concerto by Mario Brunello
SATURDAY 17 SEPTEMBER the cellists of the general Masterclass
SUNDAY 18 SEPTEMBER concert by cellist of the specialized Masterclass, with the participation of the music d’ensemble group

Concerts will be open to the public according to the rules that will be in force in September.

The group will take part in all the activities throughout the entire project.

Lessons for foreign participants will be in English.
All other activities will be in Italian.

GENERAL INFORMATIONS

For the fifth consecutive year the Società Amici della Musica “Guido Michelli” one of the oldest concert companies in Italy, organizes projects with Mario Brunello in support of the Marche region hit by the 2016 earthquake.

The project starts from San Ginesio – the Saint who inspired the name of this beautiful old village – who is the patron of musicians. The Saint has created a link between the village and music: San Ginesio is represented with a violin in his hands, both in 15th-century frescos and 16th-century paintings.

San Ginesio is situated in Monti Sibillini National Park, 700 metres above the sea level, in front of the majestic mountain chain, in a very strategic area rich of cultural and natural tourism activities that was severely struck by the earthquake of 2016. San Ginesio has received the Orange Flag as one of the most beautiful villages of Italy, with its suggestive overview on the Marche landscape and its monuments, which are a legacy of a glorious past, where the musical tradition has survived throughout time.

Participants will reach San Ginesio by car and will use their vehicles to take the trips included in the Masterclass to discover the surrounding territory. One of the most important requisites is an extra-musical interest for a 360° training experience.

ACCOMODATION & GUESTS
Participants will be hosted in structures that will be communicated promptly.

Guests travelling with the musicians must be declared. Each participant may be accompanied by only one cohabiting person.

For these, there is the possibility to participate in lessons and activities of all 6 days for a cost of 160.00 euros. Anyone wishing to take advantage of this possibility

In response, confirmation of registration and payment methods will be communicated.

The costs of accommodation (with the possibility of enjoying meals at agreed prices), will be borne by the guest.

APPLICATION AND SELECTION FOR INDIVIDUAL LESSONS

The specialized Masterclass will be open to three applicants or at the discretion of M° Brunello (who will be the winners of a video selection – see below).
Applicants must fill out the standard application (see link below), attaching the following documents:

Short CV (max. 1 Word page)
Copy of personal document
Bank transfer receipt for the first instalment* (necessary to participate in the selection, see below)
Link to a video file of one or more executions (max. 15 minutes, pieces at choice, except for J. S. Bach)
List of pieces to be played during the masterclass

The general Masterclass will be open to participants from 9 to 99.
Applicants must fill out the standard application (see link below), attaching the following documents:

Short CV with short motivational letter (max. 1 Word page)
Copy of personal document
Bank transfer receipt for the first instalment** (necessary to participate in the selection, see below)

The fee for the two masterclasses is different and must be paid in two instalments:

* partial payment of 20.00 € (non-refundable) upon application by bank transfer to Associazione Amici della Musica G. Michelli Ancona for specialized Masterclass
** partial payment of 10.00 € (non-refundable) upon application by bank transfer to Associazione Amici della Musica G. Michelli Ancona for general Masterclas

The terms and conditions of these regulations are subject to change for imperative technical, artistic organizational, health reasons and/or or force majeure causes. All changes will be promptly informed to the selected applicants.

The organizing body will contact the selected applicants, informing the place and time for presentation.

At the end of the masterclass, participants who have followed the complete course will receive a certiﬁcate of attendance.
